I recently signed up for one of the Endurance Training Camps [...] and one uncooked egg was on the required items list. All events were unknown to us until arrival. I pack my egg in this egg holder i purchased from amazon - put it in my back pack along with a ton of other gear such as string, chemlights, multitool, food, clothes, water, gloves, camera, boots, etc. After a bit of exercise, trail hiking, and jogging we built a fire and were told to boil our eggs- I pulled mine out safe and sound! Boy did it taste good. I used no additional packing to secure the egg other than this egg holder - it worked great. I take my eggs to work in this little container. Rugged plastic stands up to abuse, and it closes nice and tight. The only downside is that it really doesn't stand upright as pictured, but flops over onto it's side.

Pretty simple product, cheap, and the eggs I've packed have 1. fit, and 2. stayed intact. Now I haven't brought them on a roller coaster with me, but they survived being at the bottom of my lunchbox/cooler for a couple of days, and at least 60 miles on a lovely California Highway...which is to say its a little bumpy. Now I'm not egg carrier expert, but I'd say this is all you really need if you want something cheap that works.
