(Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, U.S.) - See all my reviews This review is from: MSR Super Fuel, 1qt (Sports) Ok, MSR 'Super Fuel' is nothing but 'highly filtered napthalene'...which sounds really fancy, until you consider that Coleman Stove Fuel is nothing but 'highly refined napthalene' too.Now, for $20 a QUART, you can buy the MSR Super Fuel, or for $8.50 a GALLON, you can get the identical thing in your local Ace Hardware under a different name, you quickly realize that paying 10x more for the same fuel is rather disingenuous. ALL white-gas stoves burn Coleman fuel like a champ...and no fuel that services a white gas stove can exceed the purity of the old standby, anyhow. The only competitive point that can be addressed, as far as white-gas (a misnomer...because it isn't 'gas') goes, would be a cheaper price. Clearly, this isn't the case here. Stick with the Coleman fuel...it is much cheaper, and more-easily found, by far. It burs with no odor and does not leave any residue. It is pricy, but beside that, it practically eliminates maintenance of burning parts. |
